Internet connection options in Abu Dhabi

A mate is setting up a business in Abu Dhabi and he needs to know what the internet options are out there:

Is there ADSL ? Does it word with a UK ADSL router (do you know what the VCI/VPI encap types are) ?

What about Cable ?

Any help would be fab - the more useful I can be the better the chance of flying out to help him set up his IT !

EIM is the only ISP in the Emirates and your only option for service unless you have a spare satcom or two.

EIM are notorious for blocking 'interesting' ports on their network such as P2P and Skype but overall, from what I have heard, they provide a decent service.

Forget taking anything from the UK with you, just go for one of their full service packages, it isn't worth the hassle.
