Involved in a non fault accident...... - Helphire on my case.

good piece on radio 4 last night about scum like helphire pushing up insurance costs with massively over inflated hire car costs!

was one story where a guy had £700 worth of damage to his mini and they gave him a 3 series hire car for 3 weeks that cost over £6k, no wonder premiums are up.

I had loads of calls from accident companies calling about my injuries ;) last year, my car was parked and I wasnt in it when some bint plowed into the back of it

I had a mis hap with an audi A4.

they got an Audi A4 for 2 weeks at the cost of £200 a day for a bumper scratch.

Personally i disagree with the bumper needing to be replaced for a scratch, but even still, why does it take 2 weeks to spray and replace a bumper ? You order the new one in, spray it, then remove and replace. The remove and replace could be done in a day.

The car doesnt need to be off the road renting a hire car for 2 weeks for a scratch.

I've had a different company after me now!

What do they do? have a list of "Possible suckers" that they post up whilst the Vultures circle?

As already said, its ****'s like these that are part of the reason our premiums are on the way up.

I'm not commenting bar telling them I did not hit them, they hit me & directing them to my insurers for further contact.

Gits.

Cheers for the feedback. :)

Thing is, as there was no injury, the Police deemed the incident "Not reportable", I assume from that, there will be no report.

The Police said they would be taking no further involvement.

Hold up. The coppers said that this accident was non-reportable?

You have stated that there was damage to both vehicles (albeit superficial to your truck) and, as both vehicles are not owned by the same person, this accident is most definitely reportable.

Reportable to the insurers but no police report was needed as nobody was injured, that would be my guess

Indeed. This is what the Police said, as there were no injuries, we did not have to even notify them of the accident (which surprised me) they took details & attended simply because they happened to be in the vicinity at the time.

Maybe that's all down to the workload of the bodywhop it was taken to. The car was probably sat in a bodyshop waiting to be assessed and then repaired behind 10 other cars. My mums car was recently repaired and that took 2 months or so for a new rad, bumper and lights. All bolt on items, I didn't see any need for jig work not that it should take so long also. Obviously her car was immobile though, but she had no courtesy car and it was her fault so no car for her!

It's still a stupid and wasteful situation and clearly is an exploited system but with so many people on the roads these days and so many petty accidents & injury scammers it's difficult to be the honest party.

When I slid out of a junction and into the path of a car nobody was injured, but the police did a full report and I had to provide this to the insurance company so they could see I was at fault despite me admitting it anyway because they asked if the police had atteneded. Maybe it's Police policy to not get involved anymore, this was about 5 years ago now.

I wouldn't even give them the time of day - just refer them to your business insurer.
