The iRig is fine, if a bit dated. It connects to the iPad via the headphone socket and has a passthrough socket on it for headphone/external speaker connection. Works fine with the rather fine Amplitube.

However, recent interfaces have started to use the proper multi-connector thingy and they're supposed to be better.

Don't understand the merits of such a thing and why someone would want it other than for novelty?

How do you use it? For practice? Recording when inspiration hits? Can't imagine a scenario when I'm lugging my guitar around but not my laptop.

I rig was purchased and i'm impressed...does such a thing exist for my samsung S2?

This is why Android fails on the music scene.
There is so much professional gear/software for Apple products but nothing for Android.
Both Mackie and Line 6 have mixing desks with iPad control and Digitech even have a guitar effects based round the iPad.
You can even get Garageband on the iPad.

(S3 and Transformer owner just in case you think I'm a fanboy)
