Iphone X like new for £500 - yay or nay?

I'm looking around for a new phone for my dad and wants another Iphone since thats all he knows. Giffgaff sell the X refurbished like new for £500 and i just wanted to check to see if thats a decent price or not?

It's an awful price. You can get a brand new iPhone XS (i.e. a year newer) for £629 (less I think if you look around). Music Magpie were recently selling the 512Gb Model XS for under £500. Even the iPhone 11 (not the Pro) drops to £650 on occasion for a new model.
