IPX in vista?

lol

ipx should have well and truely been replaced by ip/tcp in 1998 by almost everybody

I don't think IPX support will come anytime soon to Vista. Your best bet would be to set up a Virtual Machine running XP then install your older games in that... that way you avoid any compatability problems with Vista itself and can use IPX without any hassel. You should have no problem running RA2 inside a Virtual Machine as it's not the most graphically demanding game, especially if you have a processor that supports hardware virtualization.

Best software in my opinion at the moment would either be Virtual PC 2007 or VMWare Workstation 6.0. VPC 2007 is free and should be released fully in the next month or so, it's currently in the late stages of beta testing and can be downloaded from here.
VMWare Workstation isn't free but version 6.0 is currently in open beta testing so you can try it out. It's got a few advantages over VPC at the moment such as support for USB devices inside the virtual machine, you can find out more about getting the beta here. VMware also offer a free product called VMware Server, but I dont know what it's like or how it performs when running games as it seemed silly installing a server product on a desktop machine.. but it should provide the same functionaility as the Workstation version.

Hope that helps you get enjoying those old multiplayer classics again ;)
