IRacing Offer (buy 1 month, get 2 month free)

The Mazda is loads of fun, did a few races around road atlanta yesterday.

There are many things about iRacing which I tolerate (barely) rather than enjoy. However this week I've been happier than Osama bin Laden on bonfire night. Half hourly races in the *suberb* MX-5, with no SR to stress about has been absolutely amazing.

This might be the best sim car of all time. And by that I mean it sits really nicely in the sweet spot for accessibility, fun, and excitement. It's hard to find anyone who has a bad word to say about it... apart from the hardcore oval guys, obviously. They seem to be sulking about the lack of new oval toys to play with. How many left turns and ways to do it do you need?! :-)

In a way I'll be glad when this week's over and we get back to the overly serious (for me) main service. Then I can get on with my life and go back to just racing for participation credit. :-)

Ah a bit late lol.

Once you get to grips with everything, we'll have to give some private servers ago, as you said, an OcUK league or something.
I'm loving the sim so far, but it has a damn sharp learning curve lol. Thanks for posting the link regarding the offer though, hadn't heard of it before, and that offer made it worth signing up :D.

Ive done a few races now and getting into it, i thought i was doing alright until i just raced with the England lads at Brands Hatch Indy, i just cant get on with T1 after the long straight catches me out every single time. I practiced around 150 laps this afternoon and then did another good 70 or in Practice for the race, and then when there were 30 other cars on the track well nerve racking haha.

A lot of iRacers swear when you say you wish there was some AI to practice against, but I still think the lack of ability ot practice racing is a problem, especailly when you're starting out. It took me months to feel even slightly comfortable on the grid, and even longer to get used to racing with others. The stakes are just so much higher here than in other sim experiences.

The practice sessions are *some* help, but they don't create race-like conditions very often.

Anyway, don't worry about the England races. I don't make it to many, but there are always a lot of incidents. They're great fun, and a good crowd to race with. You rarely hear a cross word... unless it's about Italians or oval drivers. :-)

Ha ha, i managed to race without incident with anyone else but just made a **** of myself on the same corner every time haha.

There was plenty to say about Italians and turning left! haha.

Quick question. I've got the radical, will I have to buy the Corvette as well to race in the mixed class? Please, please tell me I don't have to.

Im finding it hard just to get round a circuit at the moment, even an oval, the cars seem all to keen to spin out, and im wondering if its to do with the setup of my car, i wouldnt spin out going down a straight in a road car, so i shouldnt be doing it in game!

You could try getting iSpeed, complete a lap, then compare the telemetry of your lap, to that of someone else's. You can then compare what your throttle, braking, gear selection etc is. May help you find out why you're spinning and what not.

It's helping me improve my time too :). Still doing crap mind you lol, around 3.5 seconds behind most people on Lime Rock Park at the moment in the MX-5.

Finally been promoted to D class, having a lot of fun with the mazda at the minute, just a really nice car to drive. The F1 is also ace but thats going to take a lot more work for me to drive at a reasonable pace in a race. Been doing open practice sessions with other people doesn't affect safety rating and gives you some experience of driving on track with other cars.

Class D for me now as well, going to race in the Mazda MX-5 (roadster) series and the Solstice/SRF series (SRF).

Tonight its the MX5 at Lime Rock, best is a 59.856, average pace is 60 odd seconds.

I let my account lapse some months back as I didn't get time and wasn't using it. If I go back with I get all the cars/tracks I bought when I was using it as I bought pretty much the lot of em?

MX-5 is fun, my best is a 59.8 as well, but I can't seem to do it again, it's driving me mad. It's like I'm trying to beat somebody else time, I lose time on that uphill corner (T4 I think) and the last corner compared to my best lap every single time

Yeah it keeps everything.
