Hi All,

Me and a mate are off the see the mighty Maiden in concert tonight, I want to know of any good rock/alt pubs in Sheffield so we can get a few in before the gig.

Also is anyone else going? We have front standing tickets :D

I'm going tonight but as I'm not from Sheffield I don't know any pubs. I won't be drinking anyway because I'm driving.

I realise this post is not helpful in anyway :D

When I went to Notts Arena on the DoD tour there was pub next to the arena playing Maiden on loud speakers and EVERYONE was in there. i'd be surprised if there wasn't a local pub doing the same in Sheffield tonight.

Is this at Don Valley?

If so there are 2 or 3 pubs that are really close. They tend to change with whats on that night, so no need to worry ;)

Andy

Hmm, i dont actually think there is any rock/alt bars near the arena, i cant think of any...

Well front standing had sold out when i bought them so went for rear standing thinking ah well better than nothing. I got there and there was one standing area was about 10 ft from the front :) Needed the loo after The legacy but tbh I wasnt bothered about the songs ive heard 1000 times.

The only song off the album that didnt work live was The Pilgrim other than that awesome. :D

lol, better than been sat on the very last row :/...

Where are you from? Cant be far away, since you got back so quick...

I was there, getting crushed about 3 rows from the barrier at the front :D

It was a good set, but I thought they did a bit too much from the new album - would have preferred a bit more older stuff.

Surprised they didn't play The Trooper and Run to the Hills tbh.

Bradford/Leeds area.

Im glad they played the whole set. Was getting fed up of the same old stuff being churned out.

Same as the newcastle gig on Sunday. Played all the new album straight through, and I can only recall 4 oldies. 2 minitutes, fear of the dark, hallowed be thy name and they finished with the evil that men do. Would have liked them to play a few more of oldies, namely run to the hills and the trooper. Still, can't fault them, they put on one hell of a show. :D

I saw them on Friday in Glasgow. It was awesome, I saw them about 6 years ago and they still have the same energy! I was terrified he was gonna fall and break a hip! :p
Some guy in front of us kept falling asleep!
I'm glad we got seats as the standing area looked terrifying, I would hate to be in the middle of everyone.

I was there last night. Cas. Were you wearing a baseball cap?

It was a great gig, I was impressed by all 3 bands and the sound quality was very good, especially Maiden.

The Maiden performance was good as usual and the new stuff sounded great live. I knew the setlist before I went and so was prepared for it. What I will say about it is that there is no denying the fans enjoyed the classics more. Personally, I enjoyed it all.

I did notice that Bruce did not run around much during the new album stuff. As soon as they started playing the classics he was running around like a lunatic. I think that goes to show how much effort playing the new stuff takes and that it's difficult to play.

I got my camcorder confiscated at the end of Brighter Than A Thousand Suns by the security, lol. I missed the whole of The Pilgrim while I was downstairs sorting it out. They wanted me to record over everything I had recorded there and then. I told them I wasn't prepared to stand there for half an hour whilst it wiped the tape and that I might aswell leave now, so I walked out. I popped my head back in the door and aksed them to tell my friend I'd left and the manager said I would be able to go back in if i was prepared to give them my camera. So I did, but I kept the battery so they couldnt get the tape out ;) I collected the camera after the show and the footage I did actually get came out quite well.

Roll on Donington in the summer!

If by next to no hair you mean I have it cut short then Yes I was sat on the very end of the row next to yours and you stood next to me at one point before going to your seat.

Well since it seems likely that Maiden will be headlining Download in the summer from their clues last nite (a field surrounded by a road, not too far from here), I will definitely be going.

hehe, i thought i was..But i would have looked a bigger idiot than i am, if i just tapped someone on the shoulder and said "Are you from Overclockers?"..

Well, may see you there, because me and some mates were planning on going even if the bands were crap, as they enjoy the Download experience just as much as the bands. Its a first for me, however ;)
