is 2gb not enough?

Apart f3om the racing games, all other games will b3 played on my hd tv tho I dont know if that mak3s much of a dif. Either that or I could just bypass the idea of playing tue racing si,ms over 3 monitors

I really needa sit down and have a good look at all the cards available. I know I could get 2 new 7950s and a waterblock for the same price as 1 new saphire or asus 290x. Whether thats a better route inreally dont know although benchmarks suggest the xfirenis better than 1 290x. Like wise I couod buy 2 hd 7970s for about 20 bucks less than the 2 mentioned 290xs

Two 7950's would be faster, but you then have potential issues with xfire compatibility.
F1 doesn't deal with it (doesn't need it tbh) and Assetto Corsa is currently a bit buggered (no doubt it'll be sorted, as it worked fine before) for example, so I'd think about one really good card perhaps.

Thnx all this has arose after a deal for 2 x 7950s fell thru when the guy selling realised that he could get more for 1 card than I was giving him for 2. Guess thats all down to this stupid mining thing going on at the moment

I still dont understand why if 2gb ir not enough then why do nvidia still charge as much as 400+ for 2gb cards. I would hatento think I would spend 450 on the evga classified 2gb 770 to find in 6 months time it wouldnt run games properly

Thing is I dont really have any experiance of pc gaming to compare games on. My son has a pc that has a gigabyte hd 7970 and that plays any game on his steam account fine by the looks of things and wouldnt be too unhappy with a couple of those myself. Other than that whatever I buy will be based on recommendations from anyone/someone on this site.

Hi, what racing games will you be playing? For iracing and RF2 I can tell you now don't bother wasting your time with SLI/X-fire setups if you can avoid it. More trouble than it's worth. PCARS and Assetto Corsa both work well with Nvidia SLI, less so with X-fire last time I checked. Don't have RRE or any of the more mainstream titles so can't comment on those.

P.S. For reference I have a pair of 780's

given I new to pc racing games I quite like the youtube footage off assetto corsa. I also enjoyed f1 2013 at friends house, he had the triple monitor setup with the gt omega rqcing frame and a fantics racing wheel and pedals.

F1 was actually prety good with all driving aids off but I never tried a race just the hour long free practice sessions.

See im more than likely only going to play single player bf4, cod ghosts etc although my oldest son will more than likely play multi player. And they games I will play on my 51" plasma tv in the living room.

only other game I play will br the pes series but they aint too heavy on the gpu. My girlfriend will play all the tomb raider games which im assuming wont be too gpu heavy.

then I will be trying my hand at racing sims.

the sli profile for assetto corsa sounds like it could be the deal clincher, however is it wise to spend 250 notes on a card for a game ive never played.

I really like the look of the gtx 770 gainward make but that brings me back to the original question
