Looking for a cpu, mobo and Ram.

Some gaming and general pc stuff.

I have a good case and a decent graphics card, an r9 something or other.

What could I be looking at?

I5 2500k first gen i think, 8 gb mushkin ram, 240 gb ssd kingston, r9 graphics card, an asus or gigabyte board, cant even remember

First Gen is i5 650/750 .
Your i5 2500k is second and there was a good jump in design, from 2nd to 7th gen not much at all and 8th/9th has/will add more cores.
If yours currently overclocked ?

depending on your case size and if you are open to AMD then this be a good upgrade

Yes and no. In most SP games it's fine but in stuff like BF1 or BFV online it's not great and has really bad regular dips, even when well overclocked. At stock speed it's a disaster in those games.
