I have around £140 for a new HDD.

I currently have a Samsung F3 500GB for the OS, which i am happy enough with, but am wondering if i will reap any rewards if i spend around £140 on a SSD Drive. I need 80GB. The SSD drives in my range are:

80GB SSD Intel M25-M Gen 2 Solid State Drive
80GB Intel X25-M Mainstream Solid State Drive
80GB SSD Corsair Force Series Solid State Drive
OCZ 90GB Force Series SSD - Solid State Drive
OCZ 90GB Vertex 2E SSD - Solid State Drive
OCZ 90GB Vertex 2 SSD - Solid State Drive

My F3 has been acting up recently, so i am going to return it. I can either go with one of these SSD drives, or get the 320GB Samsung F4.

Thanks in advance

By the way. The PC is used mainly for playing football manager, browsing the internet, downloading via newsgroups and torrent and using office applications.

waste of money for your use if you get a SSD. You only notice little improvment in loading times thats about it. Unless you plan on doing editing and encoding media etc.

Yes, you should notice a decent overall performance increase...ie. shorter boot time, better reads/writes for quicker copying/moving of files, programs/games opening/loading faster...and the SSD is silent...

OP, what operating system are you using? Only Win 7 supports trim, and from experience without trim they can become problematic.

For your needs I really am not sure a SDD is the way to go just from the price VS performance aspect. I have actually read good things about the Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid SATA. kinda the best of both worlds for a smaller price tag and a lot more space.

It basiclly has 4GB SLC NAND it will use for your most used things and they come in sizes ranging from 250, 320 and 500. I have been looking into one of these myself.
