Is a Corsair H80 better than a scythe NINJA PLUS Rev.B for cooling

Can you fit 120mm fans though? I thought you had issues previously?

Hmmm I may just be able to squeeze them in. I couldn’t fit the original 120mm fan pointing towards the exhaust fan while using the fan clips that came with the cooler, because the clips didn’t give you any adjustment. I think I can fit a 120mm fan in a push and pull config towards the exhaust if I attach them using cable ties and raise the fans up a bit. The fans will have to be raised about 2-3cm above the standard mounting position so that it clears my ram on one side and the heat pipe on the motherboard on the other. Hopefully then it will fit under the side panel on the case. It’s a pity I didn’t have a spare 120mm fan I could use to test. I can use the broken scythe one to see if it will fit but I can’t use it to see if it lowers temps. Could I remove one of the case fans temporally and fit it to the CPU cooler to see if it does affect temps. Or will this not be a good test because of reduced air flow in the case? I seem to remember placing the scythe fan (not attaching it just resting it on top of the ram and against the CPU cooler) pointing towards the exhaust case fan as a test to see if it affected temps but I don’t think it did drop them.

Scythe UK 3000 are one of the best.. the UK 2000.. but are 38mm thick and not PWM.. but you can make them PWM.. I'll sent you the link

Am using Zaward Golf II on wife's cooler and like it

I'm really not up on 120mm heatsink fans.

Speed might have some other suggestions

Thanks I shall have a look at them but they might be a tad to thick. Does it make a difference if they are not PWN?

Thanks again for the replies

Probably worth a try on cooler. Or buy a cheap £3-4.00 fan and try it.

There are 2 ways to control fan speed; variable voltage and PWM. PWM is better but voltage works too. Your choice.

I haven't had a chance to try a 120mm fan yet, I will hopefully get a chance this week sometime. A friend has offered me an H80 cooler for a reasonable price but he doesn't have his receipt. He has the original box though. The cooler is fully operational just now and he has changed to an H100 cooler which is the reason he is getting rid of the H80. My only concern is if it goes defective will I be able to RMA it back to corsair without a receipt?
