Is a Sapphire X1600 Pro 256MB any good?

Hi,

Currently I have got a geforce mx440 (something like that) as my good gfx blew up a couple of years ago and i didnt want to spend a lot to get a new one. Now i think it might be a bit too pap so was thinking of getting a new gfx card.

The X1600 pro is only around £90 and i didnt want to spend over £100 really so wanted to know if its any good? I dont play a lot of games atm but this might change when i get a new card! I just dont want to spend this money then be disappointed.

Also is this the best card for the money?

Apparently the X1600 pro isn't very good for the money. Are you on AGP or pci-e?

If you're on AGP, get the XFX 6800le 128MB for £82.19 inc VAT in the B-grade section. Then you could try unlocking the last quad of pipelines and shader(s). That's what I did with mine.

Get an X800 card, better cards, similar prices. ok it doesnt have shader model 3, but its still better.
Perhaps look at the NVidia equivilent, 6800 / 7600 (I think)

Keep an eye on the members market for a 6800GT,X800Pro/XL etc, as there are no decent AGP card now for under £100 new. A 7600GT AGP might be out next month.

Ive found a X800 GTO 256mb GDDR3 card for around £113 is that a good deal?

Seems to be hard to find good AGP cards!


edit: whats the difference between GTO and PRO? because there is a pro for a similar price on an auction site.
