Is BT Wholesale really bad?

I am with o2 (BE) and love it! I get the best part of 20Mb down and 1.5Mb up all for £10.50 a month (this is due to a special offer which gave me half price broadband for 12 months).

Never see any usage caps or restrictions or anything!

Correct, BT Infinity & VM both use traffic management.

Are you sure that is being throttled rather than over contended. I'm with zen because they don't throttle the connection (still provided by bt whole sale but my understanding is they don't throttle over zen)

However I still see my speed go from 7mb down to 3mb in peak. When it went below 1mb bt acknowledged through zen and moved me to a different circuit. Terminated my Internet for 2 weeks but that's a separate issue :(

I am debating moving back to bt - but really not sure if throttling will affect me further, family downloads around 100gb a month
