Is Crysis worth buying for £20 on steam?

I've just been on a spending spree and bought a Titan Goliath with a radeon HD5850 and a nice 24" monitor, both of which I'm hoping to arrive early this week.
I've already bought the new CoD for £40 on steam to test my new system with and I've been looking at getting crysis after seeing some videos on youtube. Thing is I've always seen this game as a demonstration of modern graphics, and I had an unfounded idea that the game is actually pretty ****ty.
I'm quite hesitant to spend a further £20 on a game that might not be any good.

tl:dr Is it worth buying?

You can buy

Crysis - Maximum Edition starting from around £12

Includes both
Crysis and crysis warhead

Can you still run the game through steam (I like to keep my games organised) if you get an actual physical copy, i.e. enter the serial key into steam?

You can't add the key to Steam but you can create a shortcut in Steam and launch it from there, which would also allow you to use the steam overlay for friends, though you would need to keep the disc handy if you ever wanted to re-install it as it doesn't actually tie the game to your account.

I picked it up on steam in the holiday sale for £10.19. Glad I did, as I'm really enjoying it so far. Well worth it if you can pick it up for £10-15 if you ask me!

i would say go for the maximum addition from amazon as said above, i did and its very good indeed :D
its got crysis/crysis warehead/crysis wars, which is amazing for the price of £12/13
that should keep you going for a long time with cod aswell :)

Sure you will be able to use the layout within any game?
Might actually add all my games within steam now if so :P
