Is Crysis 'worth it' with this spec?

Played through Crysis and Warhead with an E6320 processor and an 8800GTS, resoultion was down at 720p with medium detail and it was still playable. You should be fine with your setup

720p everything on maximum with no AA (not really needed on my hdtv as i sit at a distance) and the framerate is rock solid, honest to god. I played through to the point where you find your dead teammate strung up from the tree and did not notice a single bit of slowdown, yes the ice levels will likely bring those, but i'm chuffed.

Now really is the time to play crysis it seems. Far more enjoyable just launching it and sinking my teeth into the gameplay rather than faffing with the settings to get that extra fps here and there.

Control pad works really well too.

how will crysis do with a q6600 at stock with 4GB RAM and 2x gtx260 in SLI?

Well first it would slap you for not overclocking your Q6600 (seriously, i never overclock, but it's so easy to overclock those chips it's silly not to!), secondly it would run fine. Probably better than it does for me if you overclocked that Q6600.

Keep in mind i'm running at a low resolution though!

I just dont get the Crysis obsession, still.

Nobody plays the MP version anymore - seriously, I tried and there are like 10 servers left all running Mesa 24/7 - and we all completed the SP story when it came out. Why are people still so bothered about whether it runs?

It's hardly an obsession, for me at least, it's just a pretty decent game that i didn't get to enjoy to its 'fullest' on release. This is typical of many other games for me too; another example is Half Life 2 Episode 2. It ran like a dog on my old system, i've now got that reinstalled and am playing it through too.

Ultimately it's a good game (not great) that, in terms of hardware, was released before it's time. To enjoy everything the game had to offer (and let's be honest here, one of the big points of the game was that it was a technical showcase and still is today, it may be regarded as a little sad to consider good graphics as a selling point, but for me it is a factor) i felt i should replay it on a system that would run it well above low settings.

If i'm honest, i don't get why you're questioning people for replaying a game, most gamers do it all the time. This one just happens to be a game i was holding off on replaying until my system was 'up to scratch'.

Oh and, other than the occasional bout on Street Fighter, i don't really game online so am not fussed about that.
