Is EVGA backplate for the 680 worth £24?

That's why you should liquid cool everythin so you have no need for fans! :p

On a serious not, the backplates look damn good; the main reason people buy them

Actually I was unsure whether I wanted my EK back plates. Once I got them, looks aside:

-easier to handle card
-if your planning to WC, supports the card from the weight of the block
-my backplate does get warm, so it is also doing some cooling / fans blowing on backplate

Why is it so expensive at £24? The EK ones cost £19.99.

Not sure if the EVGA once can be used in the same way as the EK backplates but I'm assuming they can, i.e. they have thermal pad groves on the back of the backplate and it covers the entire card.

Tbh if u have enough rads u can use them passive but it's still a lot quieter to run a few Scythe GT's at 600-800rpm than have the gpu fans spinning up at 3000+rpm :P

I also bought two backplates from EK based on the above when I went water-cooling on my GPUs. The biggest plus for me is supporting the PCB so it doesn't bend at all, which is probably the biggest problem with current PCB design in present day. Bend the PCB, break the solder, break the card.

I'd pay £24.99 just for the peace of mind alone.

Your not getting a free backplate ur getting a free high flow bracket :P

How is the bracket "high flow" ?

My 580s have one row for input and the entire second row 'high flow' if thats what the grille is now called XD

Is there was no grille surely the card would overheat and die without it? and with it the performance will be identicle?

IMO

The backplates do look cool. Can't see them doing much for temps tho. :(

The high flow bracket is pointless. Just get a std one and a dremel / file and make the holes bigger! ;) Just remove from the card first!
