Is Grand Theft Auto 4 worth continuing with.

On the verge of completing it. The poorest of the series IMHO, peaking with San Andreas. BOGT and LATD better be a whole load better.

The whole game looks the same making it impossible to find your way around.
Handbrake turns around corners are impossible.
What's with this checking your phone and email nonsense? Just give me the damn missions.

Ive only played GTA4 and Liberty City on the PS2.

I totally loved GTA4 - finished it with about 60 hours played over a few weeks. I thought the story was hilarious, perfectly cliché as expected.

I started to play the lost and the dead, its rubbish the characters mean nothing, i hate bikes.
I started to play the ballad of gay tony, the characters are decent and the story is ok. but i got bored. ill go back to it one day.

OP, are you saying that you find the missions difficult?

I love GTA IV for the story. It's a great story, the missions are repetitive but I personally like the format of them. Also it's great running around shooting randomers :D

You just suck at driving :p

Yeah, probably. But the driving physics in San Andreas meant driving places was actually fun. Scrambling up to the top of that mountain in the middle was ace, as were the side missions.

I have fond memories of "Beat the ****". :D

I remember a lot of San Andreas. The characters, missions, side missions, locations, getting fat and going to the gym, aeroplane and helicoper missions, skydiving.

Liberty City, go here, kill him. Next mission. Go to an internet cafe and check your email. Ugh?

I didn't much like San Andrea the first time around, but got playing a bit recently. Windows 7 didn't like it much sadly (:(), but I really did enjoy the OTT nonsense and the likeable characters this time around. It is what GTA 4 wasn't, a lark!

I must have played a different game... bought it on steam, registered to social club and GFWL. logged in played.

You did, I bought on Steam, didn't want to use the social club so didn't register, GFWL crashed in the middle of updating itself, I had to find the xliveless.dll thing to play without GFWL, and have to update it everytime they released a patch.

Saying that, I really enjoyed GTA 4 actually. If you look at the amount of detail they put in to the buildings and layout, its quite spectacular at time. Loved the atmosphere.

I loved the atmosphere of GTA IV. I remember being amazed at the level of detail.. all the little things like bilboards, the radio stations and adverts, news... the internet. All injected with great satire. Loved that!

I recently bought it again in the Steam sale as it included the episodes and I just got two missions into Gay Tony before my PC started failing :(.

Maybe so, but I wasn't buying it for its architectural features. Every building might have passed planning permission, but they all looked the same and, as such, I was permanently lost without the map.

The other games were the exact opposite.

Is there any way to play San Andreas with the pc xbox360 pad? i tried xpadder once which didn't seem to work for the trigger buttons and i usually play my games with keyboard+mouse but GTA doesn't seem suitable for it.
