Is it fair to upload pictures of your kids to Facebook?

Brilliant.

So the only people allowed to post in facebook threads are people who love facebook.

There's a word for that... What is it? Oh yes...

Fascism.

Is this really a big deal to you?

I pray not that social services would come and take ones kids away from the one day for uploading there childs pics on facebook as some kind of abuse as they would cause them problems in the future.

But the way the world is i reckon some bint will make this happen.

In the village where I grew up some individuals would habitually walk around from house to house sharing the gossip and slander about other peoples and each-others lives, many a knife being left a back.

Some would only visit family and good friends sharing life's conversation and stories of their day.

Others would listen out for other peoples conversation, pretending to tie laces or call an errant child while really they were collecting dirt on their neighbours.

The reserved would occasionally look from behind a net curtain, simply observing but with no ill intent.

The devious would simply stalk an individual and drive them nuts with unwanted advances and then turn nasty with abuse and profanity when they were sent away.

The village was just as facebook is; it has its good and its bad, some people take it all too far and some stay out of the way.

Facebook is a means to an end for me; friends and family far and wide, some people put too much stock in facebook and take it as an essential. Some will call me old fashioned but ill stick with real life and facebook will remain a tool to simply keep in touch.

People who don't use it have as much right as anyone to comment on how it works, just because you don't use something dose not mean you don't understand it.

This thread isn't serious is it?

I upload pictures to my facebook/website with other peoples kids in, it's hardly going to come back to haunt someone as an adult.

I have personally seen certain events where if just ONE parent makes an issue of their child having pictures taken, professional photographers have had to be cancelled or sent away. They would rather do that than jump through the hoops/hassle of sifting through photographs of said child that must not be photo'd and/or the photographer given direct instruction to not photo child X based on facial recognition by the photographer.

Tell me about it, I'm not a professional and even I've been there. I refuse to photograph events where there are restrictions on who can be in the frame or not, it's completely impractical. I'd demand a significant sum just to remove certain individuals from photographs after I've taken them.

Has it really got to the point where anyone who doesn't conform to facebook deserves attacking?

Oh my, you don't realise what you did but here's a clue.

Has it really got to the point where anyone who does conform to facebook deserves attacking?

What is the point of coming into a Facebook thread to attack Facebook users just because you feel superior?
The stupid thing is you are posting on a site that in a way is just like Facebook but for people you don't know.
You are very lucky if you are able to keep in touch with all your friends & family on the end of a phone or email and keep a conversation going between dozens of you.
How exactly do you do it so us inferior Facebook users can use your better idea?

Calm down Mr Defensive....

I think the problem here is that pro-FB users seem to think that me saying I don't use it is somehow an attack against those who do.

Sheesh... Fanboys... :o

You know exactly why you said it otherwise you wouldn't post.
Yes I am a fanboy of a wonderful site that enables me to keep in contact with a lot of fans all at the same time plus 'real' friends all at the same time.
However Facebook gets about 5 mins a day where OCUK gets my undivided attention.

I don't use Facebook because I hate most people. The one time I did sign up for Facebook it lasted about a week. It reminded me why I was no longer friends with a lot of people from school who added me. I hate the people I work with so I didn't add them. My family are boring and I'm thankful that we meet infrequently. Thankfully in my younger days, camera phones didn't exist and there's no pictures of me mashed out of my face available for the world to see because some idiot can't into privacy settings on their account.

It's scary how long stuff stays online. There's posts from 1998/1999 on various websites I made under various usernames. Stuff I'm thankful my real name wasn't attached to.
