I've got a few backups of some pc's done using a straight file copy so all the data is accessable and W7 takes forever and an age to delete the things. Currently sat still 'discovering' items some ten minutes after I kicked it off and it's only found 18GB of data, it'll probably take another thirty minutes to actually delete the files after too and that's without them going to the recycle bin either.

Anybody know of a faster way or am I missing something obvious here?

No issues here on my 2TB drive shuffling stuff around. Maybe your drive was heavily fragmented.

I had problems shifting about certain file types, basically had a large number of files with .html extensions on them, and it had a huge problem with them, sat there for ages "discovering" them. When I changed the file extensions it was fine again. Was weird :P

You will just have to get used to it , it is one of the many awesome
new windows 7 "features"

Have you tried using a dos window to delete them ?
