Hi All,

Is it possible for a motherboard to run two raids at one time?

I have an ASUS Formula Rampage MB at present with RAID already set up for my two SSD's. What I want to do is buy another 300GB Velociraptor and set that up as another raid in the same rig. Can this be done from the MB or do I need to get a RAID card for this?

Also if the first is possible, is it possible to add the new raptor into a raid with the existing one without re-installing all the software (300GB of games) onto the new raid set up?

Cheers for any help.

Taff

Yes...

Yes, the X48 chipset mobos come with the ICH9R cont which will let you do this...

If your initial RAID0 SSD array was setup when you installed your OS and you are using it as the boot volume, I think you would simply copy your games onto another HDD, connect 2nd Velociraptor setup your RAID0 array in RAID BIOS and in Windows give it the same letter as the original velociraptor had previously, then copy back games onto your Velociraptor RAID volume...
