Just looking at the 590 chipset and the rocket lake processors as well as the 3080ti

Im currently running on an Asus maximus viii with an Intel i7-6700, 16gb and an 1080 ti. All a few years old now.

I want a 3080ti(if I can get one) but wondering if its time for a system upgrade also? If so what is the recommended processors and chipset to use? So many processors and chipsets around, been out of the game for a while and lots of choice.

Personally I think AMD are better at the high end so if you want to go all in now then maybe a 5800X/5900X.

If you don't want to go all in what with DDR5 systems just around the corner then buying a cheap B560 + 11400F combo to hold you over for a couple of years then jump to a DDR5 based system, selling your current board and CPU you have would probably make this a free upgrade.

I recently upgraded to a 5120x1440 screen and setting myself up for newer games coming down the line, all I wanted to know is if my current compents will support a 3080ti, if not what the best chipset to go with.

You should be just about be ok at that resolution, would get the GPU first and see how it goes.

Don't want to upgrade the system if I can help it, but concerned that the cpu will drag the performance of the 3080ti down, especially in newer games.
While some CS:GO and most older games couldn't care less, in demanding games quad core is really low end.

And can see more AAA games of later part of the year hiccuping with it considering increasing amount of new consoles, which have 7 cores dedicated exclusively for running game.
