Is it worth getting a New Nintendo 2DS XL or should I just stick to Android?

I've been highly tempted to get a New Nintendo 2DS XL for quite a long time, but I've always put it off for one reason or another. I have a OnePlus 6 mobile phone, so I could stick to Android for mobile gaming but I love Nintendo games, and none of them are available on Android.

Do you think it is worth getting a New Nintendo 2DS XL at the current time? Or would you just stick to gaming on the OnePlus 6? One thing I like about the New Nintendo 2DS XL is the virtual console so I can go back and play old games.

What is multiplayer like on the 2DS XL?

Great library of games so worth picking up in my opinion. I don't play online much but Nintendo's online has always been shoddily handled at best though from what I have used it's functional.

Mobile phones are rubbish for anything other than "on the toilet" games. A 2DS will provide access to far better games with much better controls.

One question I do have is how much are old DS games on the online store? There are quite a few I'd like to play, but I'm not sure if I could find the carts for those old games.

Also, does it support 256GB microSD cards?

I don't believe normal DS games are available on the 3DS eShop. Most of the old note worthy DS games should be easy enough to find on places like ebay for reasonable prices though, with only a select few costing over 30 for a boxed copy. There are other cheap ways to play those games too if the ones you want do end up costing silly money second hand though if you know what I mean.

The Sandisk 128GB card I have definitely works, and I imagine a 256GB card would work fine too. Most games max out at around 4GB so 128GB should be plenty if 256GB doesn't work.

Thanks for the reply. It was beneficial. One final question: do you know what capture card you would need to record gameplay to your PC so you can upload to YouTube? If at all possible it would be nice if it was also compatible with the Switch if I ever decide to get one of those in the future.

You'd need a hardware mod that costs hundreds and requires you to send your 3DS away to the modder and they're not known to be too reliable. I'm also not sure if they support the 2DS XL. There are others ways to stream your 3DS to your PC but it requires hacking your console and doesn't run at 100% speed.

Thanks for your help. I've decided I'm going to get one. Now I need to decide on what games to get. I'm highly tempted by the Zelda games on the system, but I also like the look of the Castlevania series.

Metroid: Samus Returns is worth picking up for £23 on amazon. Tons of classic ds games cheap as chips on ebay.

A couple of 3ds games i'd get:

Super Mario 3D Land
Zelda Link between Worlds

Both £14 and £16 new on amazon.

Thanks for the recommendations. Do you know of any good open world sandbox RPGs available for the 2DS XL? I don't mind if they are DS games either since both are compatible.
