Hi guys, I'm in the middle of a refurb.

Thermal pads had slipped my mind and they are all that's stopping me put my system back together.

Most of the thermal pads are completely intact on the graphics card VRAMs and on the north bridge, just a couple torn on the graphics card.

I have enough spare ones to replace the one or two VRAM pads. And them MAYBE enough for the north bridge too (the old ones are completely intact on the north bridge)

Is it worth replacing thermal pads when the look okay? Does thier performance get much worse over time?

How important is the cooling of VRAM and the north bridge, do they have to be very well cooled or can it just okay?

Having to wait a couple of days for pads will be a huge pain

Probably doesn't affect much, but I have a Asus Rampage IV Extreme motherboard and a 980ti

Yes, they should be replaced with fresh ones - not just because they age, but also to ensure they're undamaged & cleanly applied.

What did you decide?
