Is it wrong of me to want to spend £8500.00 on this?

That might have been the case before they were slammed to the ground and had the wrong size tyres fitted to the rims. I doubt much of the acclaimed handling attributes remain in these examples...

Fair point, but I was referring to him implying that the mk2 Golf in general was a 'bad base' for an engine conversion, not those particular cars :)

the "scene" is packed with so many window lickers

Must admit I agree with that. People just seem to copy everybody else when something becomes fashionable in the dub 'scene'. One particular example is the current fixation with hanging a 'hawaiian lei' flower garlant from your rear view mirror. It looks unbelievably gay, yet they all seem to be doing it

and how on earth does that make your gti any quicker? the shows are one big poncey parade.... i think the tinterweb has a lot to answer for

imo a gti is intended to be steered, quickly, along fun b road. not about stance, not about hanging flowers or brightly coloured trainers

It's nice but it's also LHD, 6.5k feels too much even thought it has had a transplant.

I get annoyed by people hanging random items from their tow eye, WHY?!?

i think the LHD thing is a positive. its something different

? It might be different, but a cursory check of car valuations shows a pretty one way direction in terms of LHD values (i.e. 911s), which means in comparison to other cars, the rest of the car has to be even better value.
