Is it wrong to get excited about an operation?

I was excited about an operation I had nearly 3 years ago (I think!). Prior to it, I could barely eat, I'd be choking in my sleep on a drink I might have had hours previous. It was not a nice existence.

I've been in hospital a couple of times over the last few months. The food was good and with regards to the op, I was quite looking forward to it. Not only does it feel like you've had the best sleep but you know you're going to be fixed when you wake up.

Best nights sleep? Twice I've gone under and twice I've woken up feeling like the hang over from hell.
The second time I'm sure I did try and lash out at the recovery nurse as I was in that much pain and shock.

I've got an operation coming up this year when I get time to book it, and although I'm less than enthusiastic about the idea of getting put under and cut up (never had any surgery at all before) I'm ecstatic at the prospect of not having this ****ing thing on my back getting in the way of my life anymore! (pilonidal cyst)

I've got one of them aswell its doing my head in not being able to sit properley and driving is a nightmare

Don't mind myself, do what they have to do, isn't going to kill you. Never have minded hospitals, I can't understand some peoples fear, even if they walk in some are petrified.

well provided the anesthetist doesnt **** it up of course and puts the tube down to your stomach and not your lungs, or u have some kind of allergic reaction to the anesthetic etc etc

When you've got three young kids, an overnight stay in a hospital sounds bliss!

I'm going in myself for the snip tomorrow but it's only under gen anasthetic and will only about 20 mins :-(

Although I'm excited about what I'll be able to get upto after the op :-)

I like hospitals. I'm just really interested in how the whole thing is run and the procedures for different things. When I had an op last year I was scared about the pain but excited about staying in a hospital for a day :p

I'm weird I guess.

I dunno

"ooo how did you get that scar"

"i had a knoby growth surgically removed"

I read an autobiography of a zoologist some years ago. I can't remember much about it but one bit has stuck in my mind. He has a scar on his torso from not being quite fast enough to completely avoid an angry leopard...well, that's what he tells some people sometimes. It was actually from a baby mongoose he was about to feed that wanted feeding now RIGHT NOW.
