Is McDonalds in decline in Britain?

It's got nothing to do with the quality of their ingredients I just don't like squashed, thin, tasteless product they sell. Sorry if that bothers you.

Exactly. It has naff all to do with the fact McDonalds ‘might’ be using 100% beef in their burgers. The end result is a pathetic excuse for a meal, and its mass produced garbage.

However, some do actually enjoy a squashed, damp tasteless burger with soggy or over cooked and dry fries with a watered down fizzy drink….

Its still the lowest of all food groups, regardless of how ‘good’ their ingredients are. The ingredients combined and what is served to you is what I find un-appealing.

I agree, I try to eat at Rick Steins place most lunchtimes.

Mc donalds is a pathetic excuse of a meal, kfc seem to be going same way aswell. Best quick meals in my opinion is morrisons salad and fruit bar.

Cant beat the odd greggs steak bake though, theres a greggs around every corner in chesterfield.

Salad and Fruit bar/sigh/ when did we all turn into health obsessed lady boys:)

Give me a chip barm with plenty of butter salt and vinegar and I'm happy!

When it comes to fast food, I would always just grab a packaged sandwich/wrap from a garage/shop so I literally haven't had a McDonalds/BurgerKing/KFC/SubWay in ..years it seems.

McDonalds in particular is just a depressing place.

Although that maybe is because I worked there part-time for two months during school. :(

Nope in Barnstaple there are 2, and now one is open 24/7 and one is open 24 hours for Friday and Saturday. No decline around here really. And with the choice I would go to McDonalds over BK or Wimpy.

They both are, aren't they? I've been to the Newport one at silly o'clock before and the Roundswell one is open when I go to work at half 4..

Haha im by far a health freak, but i do love a salad and a £3 cooked chicken or bacon ribs ,when i find my self going pass morrisons on way home from work.

Don't like McDonalds. Not eaten there since my early teens. If I'm local I will go to a little fresh hot meat baguette shop :)

Repeated cravings for BK Bacon Double Cheeseburger. Dissapointed every time. Then cravings return. It's an upsetting cycle.

Maybe, I know rounds well is 24/7 all the time, I though (unless its been changed) the other was only 24 hours on weekwnds... although its been a while since I have been to them in the middle of the night...

Let me check...

Yeah, roundswell is 24/7, the other is open from Fri 6am through till sunday 11pm, and 6am-11pm other days...

By the comments in this thread it sounds like the majority of the population of GD only eat freshly home cooked ingredients that they have bought from the butcher and local farm. Do you genuinely think that the ingredients are better from supermarkets, take aways and many restaurants?

I find it funny that GD has made it fashionable to slate McDonalds when its footfall tells a different story.

I love my food and eat out at least 3 times a week and have eaten out in all standards of restaurant however I will happily drop into a McDonalds if I am out and about. For the price the ingredients are good, I usually go for the chicken selects which are 100% chicken breast in a breadcrumb and flour coating. This will certainly be better than the majority of options out there.

In terms of McDonalds closing down what you will likely find is that they are very conscious of the current market and instead of allowing their strongest stores to balance out their weak ones they are closing down their weakest performers and opening new ones elswhere to give the strongest portfolio possible. This will all be in an attempt to make the company recession proof and maximise on share price. Just turning a profit in the current climate is an excellent way to boost your share price!

Tbh with McDonalds, its the customers that put me off as much as the quality of the food. Car parks and restaurants always seemed to be full of chavs and the car parks are always strewn with rubbish which the lazy ******* customers cant be bothered to walk the few feet over to the binds.
