Is Metro 2033 worth buying?

What would it be like playing this game on the rig in my sig?

Resolution 1680x1050 if it makes any difference.

You wouldn't be able to run it in DX11. But I've played it in both dx10 and dx11 and there's no difference, just an fps drop in dx11. I'm not sure what settings you'd be able to play it in. Good settings I'd think, but maybe not max :)

Really enjoyable game for me. Great atmosphere. A bit short but for the price I got it defo worth it. Don't worry about the performance either, Tessellation is not worth the obscene performance hit, and without it the game will run pretty well and look 95% the part.

Finished game, I believe with GTX280 or HD4890, wish I'd wait for my HD5870 before I played, gameplay wasn't smooth, as to game, nothing special, finished in about 8-9 hours and wasn't very exiting!

i wouldn't say it was worth 13 quid, i got it in the steam sale for about a fiver which i would say is all it's worth.
the fps i got with a 570 were laughable in dx11, so when i do eventually get around to playing through it, i will be sticking to dx9.

You don't have anything to worry about a thing. I have a similar rig and run at the same resolution on my 22" HDTV, my rig possibly has a tiny bit more clout but regardless it plays fantastic.

I haven't had a single bit of lag and absolutely love the game. The graphics look fantastic but I'm not sure how much of an improvement it would be from DX10 to DX11, so I can't comment on that, DX10 looks great.

Go for it!

Very very average game to be fair. You need to remember to save it often as well or you can get a truly awful autosave where your in a really bad position and have to start over again. The game was advertised as something where you could make choices of how you actively engaged enemies, having stealthy kills allow you to use the better ammunition in sections where you really needed the extra firepower, whilst people like me who run in guns blazing where offered the garbage ammo but in good enough quanitities to allow for that style of gameplay. Never worked that way though, instead you'd end up pretty much running out of ammo regardless of your playstyle at certain sections of the game, making it stupidly hard.

The game whilst it remained in the tunnels was decent, but as soon as it got to the outside city parts it was dire and lost a lot of its graphical appeal to be fair. I paid full price for it on preordered release as well...

Win some you lose some I guess lol

You can easily find enough ammo, not the games fault you didn't find it.

Somehow playing on hardcore I managed to get the 500 MGR achievement and still had enough ammo to kill everything, maybe you should have tried aiming some of the time.

Just because you dont agree with my assessment of the game, doesn't mean you need to get ****y about it. Grow up mate.

The game is average at best and definitely not worth anything more than a tenner.

You basically said it was an average game because you weren't good enough at it.

The whole game concept is it's a bit harsh, I just don't see how you were so surprised you were expected to think your encounters through.

I've actually replayed it recently which is a rarity for me (but hey it's short so I can afford to!) with the new harder Ranger DLC and I've actually enjoyed the lack of ammo as it really makes you think about shooting at stuff. Timing those shotgun shots on the monsters to get them in one shot without getting knocked on your arse is rather satisfying too, although not so much later when you get a huge shotgun that can devour a tank :p
