Well they've basically told me to sod off and closed the support ticket. Cant believe the support guy is denying there is any issues with the non EN blocks? Why have they been replaced if with EN blocks if there wasnt an issue.

I would avoid nickel or indeed any plated blocks together.

Why? If you like the looks of them and you've already spent so much time and money making your system look good (presuming that's one of the reasons you WC), then why go for something you don't like the looks of because it might corrode

Then you have to accept that if it does corrode/flake you've got no come back. This isn't galvanic corrosion, nickel and copper are too close in the anodic series to corrode like that, it's probably crevice corrosion caused by flaws in the plating process or mechanical damage the surface has otherwise been subjected to.
Exactly this. Nickel blocks look fantastic but the can soon look very shabby. With copper the worst you get is oxidization which is easily rectified.
I am however surprised at Eddy over this as his support is usually second to none. I guess everyone has their limit.
Damn nickel blocks look so tempting but with all of the problems they seem to create I reckon I'll be sticking to copper again on my next build.

yeah reading allot about this looks too common imho so i'm gunna cancel my block from ocuk and wait for pure copper ones.
That's very odd, I just sent off a block to EK as I had a non-EN FC580 block - I admitted to not using any corrosion inhibitors and I even damaged the block itself - I had to drill out one of the standoffs, because the thread broke so I could not remove an EK backplate - I opened a ticket, enclosed pictures and they agreed to RMA it despite damaging the block and not using corrosion inhibitors. Sent the block off last Friday, so I'm waiting for a replacement atm.
I also asked if they could send me a Nickel-Plexi block as an replacement instead of my original Nickel-Acetal block and they agreed.

I have two EK FC580s, one non-EN, and another EN: My non-EN block I had for about 7 months, and my EN block for about 3 months.
Disassembled my loop a week ago, and my non-EN block was flaking where-as my EN block was fine, as was my EK Supreme HF.

Ah, i was hoping it wouldn't be Gregor as then i'd have said speak to Gregor! He's handled all my support tickets ever, so i thought it may be him

Isn't that a major pain though to drain and disasemble your watercooling... and 4 faulty blocks?!?!
And then you get this situation where they refuse an RMA.
How can you still defend it after it happening 4 times to your block, just because of the ascetics which you hardly even see on your gpu block?
I do acknowledge however that there is a risk of it occurring, but it doesn't stop me.

Poor quality control and a rubish RMA experance made me sell all my ek kit.
Even if there stuff is some of the best I want nothing more to do with them.
