Is my feet positioning unusual?

I essentially do the same.

How do you heel and toe with that positioning? :-p

Easily - especially if you have big feet. Raise your heel off the ground and use the big toe ball and lower part of your foot to brake. Use the rest of your toes to tickle the throttle. I found with my Honda and with the Evo that it allows very precise throttle and braking control.

Heel and toe isn't possible if your foot is pointing away from the brake pedal.

Not in the literal sense, but you can create the exact same effect.

I use the accelerator the same way, but my foot is straighter on the brake pedal. I have less control of the accelerator if I have my foot straight-on.

When I first started learning to drive I had to get physio as was doing exactly what you are and it became painful driving for long periods but now I just angle slightly less but still pretty much like yours. Do you tend to wear the outside of your shoes as well when walking?

my preferred way too. though on some cars (peugots and fiats spring to mind) it's been difficult as the peddles were quite close togethor and it was easy to catch the brake pedal by accident. i'm a size 11 with quite wide feet and i don't feel this is above average or anything so i assume that french and italians have dinky feet.

Feek, how long have you had that car? I'm pretty sure I remember you having it at the OcUK Swansea meet I attended almost 10 years ago. It's a saloon, right?

330k has to be the highest mileage I've ever seen on a Focus. You've obviously looked after it well. Are you planning a change or are you just going to run it until it can run no more? :D

As for pedal technique, I do exactly the same when cruising. I barely touch the accelerator. If I'm going balls out I commit my not inconsiderable body weight fully to the cause of forcing the accelerator pedal through the bulkhead.

My right foot is about as far over to the left as yours, so I wouldn't call it strange, I also have the heel groove worn into my floor and an unevenly worn brake pedal. My feet are size 14 though, so I would have a cheek calling anyone else strange :). Will take a picture of my feet position tomorrow.
