Is my motherboard dead?

I've just replaced the graphics card cooler and the northbridge cooler, and now, when trying to start the pc, the fans come on for about half a second and then die.

I have tried starting without the graphics card and the RAM and it's still the same.

Have I broken my motherboard or does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

stupid question but did you plug everything back in?
i had a problem like this before, unplugged all the front headers except power switch and for some reason it worked, guess i plugged something in the wrong place.

Yep, checked all that. Unplugged/replugged a couple of times. Also did the PSU jump start thing which worked fine.

Just picked up an Asus P5KC from a local shop. Hopefully that will fix it!

Can you try running both motherboards outside the case, there could be a possibility
the motherboards are shorting inside your case.

if you have a speaker for the motherboard beeps connected then try the motherboard with just the CPU and see if it beeps, and if it does then re-add things till it either comes on fully or does that again. on one of the pcs at my college there was a weird glitch where the fans would spin with no beeps, but asoon as the RAM was reseated it booted fine.

Tried the M/Bs outside the case and still the same. Tried with 1 stick of RAM and no RAM. Tried with just the CPU.

I have used arctic silver on the graphics card and the CPU.

Speaker is connected to the motherboard but no beeps. There is a green LED on the Asus board which is lit when the PSU is on.

Think I could've killed the CPU?

Doh what a muppet am I!!

I didn't connect the 12v CPU power!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions and help everyone :)

Just tried the old board again, as I was getting unstable overclocking on the new board. Still getting the same problem with the CPU power connected, but it now powers up without it connected, although not getting any display or POST.

Why can't things just work??
