is my passport ok for usa?

hi i'm travelling to new york for 1 weeks stay on the 24/5/07

my current passport expires february 2008

will my passport be ok for this trip.... i know this probably seems a dumb question but not being a seasoned traveller i am just double checking that there are know rules for how long until passport expires etc!

would appreciate quick reply as booking tickets tonight!

another question (lurking in the back of my mind) I will be staying at my friends apartment in manhatten and therefore won't have any evidence to show immigration where i am going to be staying i.e. hotel reservations etc.....perhaps worth getting my friend to drop me a confirming email (or am i getting a bit paranoid)

last thing i need is a stretch in guantanamo!
