Is my pc worth upgrading?

Hi everyone,

I built my PC back in 2012 and it ran like a dream. Unfortunately it's now starting to show signs of it's age and while I'm stuck at home for the foreseeable future I'm wanting to play new games such as Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and others to pass the time. I've been looking into new builds and was thinking around the £800 mark, but if I could make a few upgrades to my current rig for far less money that would be ideal. I'm not aiming to be playing games at 1440p, I'm just keen to get good performance at 1080.

Specs:

I5 3570K
Asus P8Z77-BV Mobo
8gb Mushkin Ram 1600Mhz
Gtx 670
Corsair CX 750W PSU
120gb SSD
1TB Hardrive
Corsair Carbide case with plenty of room for upgrades.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome,

Since you like to keep your PC for a good while I would suggest something like this.

8 cores will be good for 5 years + you could always drop in a 12/16 core in the future.

X570 gives you futureproof with PCIe 4 and next gen ryzen 4000 cpu compatability although the B550 chipset is releasing in a few weeks and will offer all the same but with a slightly lower price.

GTX 1660 super should be good for 1080p gaming for atleast 3 years.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £830.02 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Yeah, agree with previous advice, GTX 1660 is best on price/performance for now.
But apparently you have to upgrade your chipset, and with it, a motherboard

Look at 1151 socket and 6-7th generation i5.
At all
It worth 500$ and will fit all the games at least for a year. at least
