Is Sandy Bridge/Bulldozer worth waiting for???

Bulldozer isn't just a server chip, the will be retail models too. Bobcat and Llano are low/mid end for OEM's mainly (at a guess), not what us OCUK peeps are after :P

SB's new design makes overclocking only avalable through changing the multipliers, so im sure intell will charge an arm and a leg for 'K' unlocked ones. With the new platform and limited overclocking im not sure the speed increase will justify that over a current I7. Hopefully they will release some GPU 'free' versions too. Knowing intel current I7's wont get a price cut and will just get made end of line lol.

BD will be a wildcard, far too little info on it atm. Every bit of info they release just adds more questions so it's gonna be a hard one to predict. It should be good single core and unstoplable multi core.

Gonna be a while till they both out, the wait continues :(

Yeah I'm just digging around with google to see what there is to find :p Not a whole lot, apparently. AMD have only said "server and desktop BD chips in 2011" and not a single word more :p

Speculation is that it's most probably Q3 2011 for the desktop chip, but no-one knows.

I think we will see bd chips before q3 next year as that would allow intel too long to establish sandybridge. I am not sure if this silence from amd is good or bad and of course it could be either doesn't matter will still wait till both are out before deciding where my money is going :).
