i'm after things like door sensors, motion sensors, smart plugs etc.

is smarthings the best for this? I currently have hue lights and a smart things hub, though need to purchase the v3 wifi one as i don't have a spare port for the smartthings hub to plug into the router. i'm open to all options.

Smart Things works very well for me.
Consider a cheap, ten quid unmanaged switch if you need more ethernet ports?

I'm just curious what you're looking to get out of smartthings?

If you've already got Hue i'd be looking at using their own motion sensors. As for smart plugs, they're pretty expensive from smart things (plus the hub if it doesn't work without), when there's quite a few different branded smart plugs out there.

Door sensors i can probably see the use for - i.e. walk out of living room, switch living room lights off. But that could be achieved with some action triggers on the motion sensors.
