Is Sony pulling out of the PC market?

Disappointed for a couple of games but it's not the end of the world. The door swings both ways frankly, with how little I played the PS4 the PS5 has never been appealing to me in the slightest, hard to believe that it's 6 years old already as the exclusive list seems pretty anaemic and underwhelming to say the least.

They appear to have been more content to try and bring a load of live service nonsense to the market and take a dump on some of their IPs rather than focus on making good system seller games to entice people over, at this point porting games over to PC is the only way I'll engage with any of their games as there's just no reason for me to buy a console anymore.

I watched a video about this and PS fanboys were activitely celebrating claiming they had the best system. Some said people only built gaming computers to emulate PS2 games apparently. It was quite funny but I do remember being a PS1 fanboy in school, feeling competitive against N64 owners

I wonder if their exclusives will be withdrawn entirely now. Maybe I should grab a few before that happens. I'll probably wait until the new Xbox is about to launch or there's some good sales.

Its a shame as I've really enjoyed some of the PS games that have come across, but I think I'll cope fine much as I did before. It certainly won't make me buy a Playstation, there just aren't enough decent exclusives to make that worth while, and I much prefer playing pretty much anything on PC. I can totally understand why they are doing it, and I'm surprised they ever started bringing them to PC in the first place, but still plenty of great games for us all to enjoy, I'll live with missing out on the odd one.

I take the opposite view. Too many people ( on PC ) were getting comfortable just waiting a year or so for the inevitable port of Sony's latest 1st party exclusive. It devalued the need to buy a PS5. This news changes the dynamic entirely.
We've never really needed to buy a console anyway. Off the top of my head, there's only been one title I can recall which was console-exclusive and thus I had never played, which was Halo.
Obviously there are others, but the fact that I can't recall them suggests I haven't been missing out that much.

Totally depends on your taste in games. There are many people who do like Sony’s single player narrative based games. For those people this decision is going to cause a headache if they just own a PC.

Hmm, if they ever contemplate bring the PS5 games to PS+ cloud on PC, I'll cope with that. AFAIK, it's still stuck on PS4 games only.

I just looked them up and noted The Last Of Us in the list, which I've also never played.
Yeah I'd probably enjoy a few of those, but they're basically just behind a paywall and there are plenty of other games I can enjoy, so unless Sony does something amazingly worth my money, I won't be switching (pun intended). :D

I'll watch on YouTube and be fine with it. TLOU and HZD didn't impress while actually playing, in the end being "the same" as others I've played on PC...

It would be a shame - a lot of the ps5 ports have been great games, my favourites of the last few years.
I still wouldn't buy a ps5 though :)

Its a shame as I was really hoping we'd get a Grand Turismo game on Steam at some point :(

I just hope the next FF7 and Stellar Blade come to Steam. I'd hate to end up missing part of the collection.

Both of those games will be on PC day one

The annoying part for me personally is I'll miss out on Yotei, God of War remake trilogy + new game, and Horizon 3+, Sony make some of my favourite game series

Both FF7 and Stellar Blade are made by external devs ... the IPs aren't owned by Sony. Square Enix have already announced that the final installment of FF7 will release day one on multiple platforms.

I’ve not actually bought any of the PS games on my PC, but that’s probably because I actually played them on the PlayStation.
It no longer has any IP’s that would make me buy a console just to play it. Many years ago it would’ve been Final Fantasy but that went multi platform as we know.
Actually I reckon a Bloodborne remaster would get me back if it wasn’t going to make it on PC.

Games are the only reason why someone should invest in a console over a PC. Making all your games multiplatform imo makes the existence of console hardware all rather pointless so I think this is a good move.
