Is The GTX670 actually worth the money

I wouldn't rely on overclocking any of the 6xx series cards. None of them can be overvolted, which seriously limits the scope of the oc. The 680's and 690s are locked to 1.175, guessing the 670 is too. Only thing that annoys me with the 690, is that I can run at max oc and only at 75 degrees, way more room in those cards, I'm only limited by the voltage.

Surely though, just because they run cooler, doesn't necessarily mean they can cope with the heat the last gen cards could. They are 28nm so does this mean they are more susceptible to heat damage?

AMD 7970 price gouging and being bad for its price, thats why.

Got to say maybe AMD are higher priced than they should be, but come on, the 680 and 670 series are a blatant rip off, completely not worth what are being asked of them, but people are easily parted with there money now a days:)

Bhavv is one of the biggest Nvidia fanboys on here, probably why he's suspended.

I have always maintained that the current generation of cards are too expensive for what they are, especially considering previous generations (GTX4XX/5XX & AMD 5XXX/6XXX) high end started at around £200. At least now they are coming down in price, but they still have a fair way to go to make them the same value for money as the previous two generations.

The GTX680 is not worth the extra £50 over a 7970, and the 7970 is not really worth the extra £40 over the GTX670 until you overclock, and even then it's doubtful. They are all very similar in performance terms, so I'd suggest the 670.

Just for fun, did some quick googling.

seems the 470 was 299 on release, same as the 570.

why is the 670 now 360 ish?

are we just getting milked this gen? :p or would anyone like to predict a trend for increasing tech prices in future? maybe the 770 will be £400? :p

ocuk value 670 is 309..gainward 323 so hardly the number you have quoted based on the price now all the brands are in stock.

To be fair, it's only the custom cards that are pricey. The regular reference cards are much closer to £300 (~£320).

Edit: Just saw post above :P

Shame the reference cards are so noisy from what I've read. TBH I've never had a card with that design to be quiet, so when I order I'll be going for the pricey windforce model. Sod it, I want it and I have the cash, so why the hell not?! :D

I was careful to pick my numbers consistently.

The 470/570 range started at 270ish for the generic brand cards. I listed 299 as that was where the branded cards (that I personally would buy) came in at.

When looking at the 670 price therefore I looked at the branded cards and not the bargain basement ones, for a fair comparison.

If you want to compare generics be my guest.

The 470/570 generics were about 270, the 670 generics start at 310. Still £40 more.
