Hi,

After frying my Athlon it looks like my bad luck is continuing...

Just installed a Abit BE7 motherboard and when I try to boot up the fans just spin for half a sec then stop and system appears to be dead.

Before I consign the m/b to the bin, does any one have any ideas plz ?

Cheers

Pull out the CPU, and try and boot up.

You should get some beeps indicating CPU failure (i think).

If you dont then it could be a power connector or other mobo problem. Have you connected all the required connectors??

Also try unplugging all your disk drives just to see if it will boot into BIOS.

I have removed all HDD & CD Roms
I have Cleared CMOS Memory
I have check the power connectors, both the main and the additional 12v one
I have even changed PSUs
I tried to boot with no gfx card
I tried to boot with no memory

Everytime the fans just spin for half a second then stops.

There is a green LED on the m/b indicating its receiving power, and when I press the power on button, a red LED next to it lights up for a split second then after that nothing.

Thanks for you input anyway, I'll try and get a new m/b

Hi, you have tried running it outside the case have you as it could be shorting on a mobo brass riser as the board could have slightly different layout for the screws to attach it to the risers on the chassis. Try this first, as it could be just shorting on a riser.
