I am after a new cpu and asus mobo to go with my 3080. I have a super flower 1000watt power supply so should be okay.
Is the 5900x going to be noticably better than my Intel i7 and which mobo would get the best from it?
Thanks

For gaming it depends which i7 you have and monitor resolution you play at, for productivity workloads it will easily beat any of intels current desktop chips though.

I recently bought a 5800x, Asus TUF Gaming X570 PLUS and 16 GB of Corsair RAM. Also came with a cooler too.

I only wanted it for the 5800x. I have a MSI B550 Tomahawk and 32GB of RAM. It's mated to a 6800x.

I'm running a 49 Samsung Ultrawide and every game tried I've maxed out.

The unwanted parts are in the MM for much cheapness ;)

If it's solely gaming then imagine a 5600x would suffice if you're not going to be using it for workloads.

5820K is Haswell and hence has clearly lower IPC than Ryzen, which has also ~27% higher clock speed.
So 5600X has like 35% more performance in single thread.
And more in multithreaded because of AMD's more efficient than Intel SMT.

5900X would have some more performance in heavier highly threaded games.
And obviously would shred 5820K to pieces in multithreaded.
