Is the Ryzen 7 2700 the new Bulldozer/~FX 8350

This processor has massive width core-wise but a largely derided IPC.

Is the R7 2700 the new FX 8350? Or will it survive and be regarded as a processor that's worthwhile? Will it 'scale' in ways that Bulldozer couldn't?

the nmew ryzen sould neevr be compered to a fx cpu really. Fx cpu was underpoewered and not very well used in windows Due to many reasons it was doomed from realse. The 2700x or event he 1700x was really good strong cpu's when they launched was intel faster on single core with 7700k vs 17700x and 8700k vs 2700x yes they was butr the gap wasn't exactly anyware near a intel vs aamd fx cpu an. both the 1700x and 2700x wil last for many years it has 8 cores 16 threads aof fairlly stong ipc and cores. and the 1700x and 2700x will both age much better then the i7 7700k which also come out in 2017 rember so. so i think they both will be used for many eyars.

It is faster than the 1700. Secret is, pair it with 3466 Cl14 using calculator not XMP. It can handle even a 2080.

Here is a 1700 at only 3.8GHz but with tweaked RAM.

ryzen 2700x could handle a 2080 easly even with out 3466 cl14 ram and decent 3200 mhz kitr is fine i had a 2700x with 3200 cl16 kit and my handleed everything i could thrtow at it at 1440 144hz and 4k

In my testing on my system both the 1080ti which was evga black edition which died (brought cheap 120 pounds was a mining card) it just died no output one day so I brought a gigabyte 2080 which was water cooled but th cards was the block for 1080ti was more expensive then the card lol my 2700x handles them perfectly and in no games did my cpu hold me back really. Was a intel cpu quicker in some games yes it was but the 2700x wasn’t to far behind and at 1440p and 4K (monitor and tv ) my system handles it well and at. I point did I feel I was being held back or notice major stuttering or lag.

Here is a link to my results on 3dmark all of them from the last few generationshttps://www.3dmark.com/spy/7321680

The ryzen cpu are still a very good cpu overall tbh

Both are 8 cores and both use a socket with A and M in the name. The 8350 and 2700 are exactly the same and should be regarded as rebrands of each other.

It has about 70% higher IPC vs FX 8350, Zen+ (Ryzen 2000) IPC sits between Haswell and Coffeelake.

Your Time Spy score with 2080 and 2700X is lower than mine running on 1080 and 3700X (stock).
Something isn't right....

GPU scores:
Your 2080 = 8467
My 1080 = 8326

Looks like there is something wrong with your gpu score as it doesn't perform much better than my 1080.

I don't think so, the 9900k and 3700x are right on par with each other, the only thing that beats the 3700x is overclocking the 9900k, hopefully this will last me 5 years.

Well this all sounds very reassuring. I own the 2700 (and used to have an FX 8350). What has concerned me is the couple of games that didn't see much benefit going from the Bulldozer with a GTX 970 to the Ryzen with a 1070 Ti - particularly Dishonored 2 and FFXV IIRC. I suppose these games just have garbage engines. Of course some games were completely transformed with the upgrade, and it was definitely the CPU change more than the graphics card change which helped the most.
