Is this a buy now?

8m seeing a gulf in price between this and any better model.

I'm seeing 1299 for 55 and 1799 for the 65.
At some retailers. You can get freebies knocking that 1799 right down to 1499.

This is about the max price point I'll pay for a TV. Which excludes Sony and the new Samsungs.

Main thing holding me back is bendy panels, reliability, lack of DV, and dodgy firmware updates.

Is there anything else to consider at the 1k to 1.5k price point?

Note. Sound is irrelevant as I have a 5.1 system

Yeah I can't see anything better for the price. As this isn't a priority may wait until black Friday. But none of the other qd-oleds are anywhere close in price.

Going to pick up the s95b.
Need to decide on 55 or 65 (old TV is a 46 gt30 plasma).

Seen a few videos now of the lg g3 vs s95b and differences are so small vs the price is going to be the s95b

Which stores offer 5+years warranty? I know richer sounds do

Richer Sounds, John Lewis and Costco would be my go to stores for warranty & possible future returns.

It's good to have all bases covered, but don't be overthinking the problems you've read about. They are few and far between because more people post when something is wrong than when something is right. Thousands of people have the S95B and have had no issues whatsoever. It's a great TV

I'm definitely getting this one.
I've been waiting and waiting for a big jump. And seeing LGs best fairly equivalent to last year's Samsung makes it an easy choice.

You're looking at 1k extra for differences you can only see on side by sides.

Again, sonys a95k is a bit better. But it's not worth the premium.

End of the day a TV for me is a screen. I don't even use the remote in my TV at home. I control it via Google assistant "OK Google play "xyz" on living room TV. The ir blaster turns on the TV (as my TV is a decade old) and it works perfectly.

I only have Netflix, no live TV, no other streamers.

On the Samsung perks site you can now also add a further 10% off. Decent price for 65".

Is the warranty only 1 year??

I think I'll Probably go for richer sounds due to 6 year warranty vs Samsung which states tvs have 12 months warranty! 12 months? For items that can cost 1000s? Is that even legal?

0 months would be legal, a warranty is an optional insurance product

I don't think that's true. I believe new retail products must be sold with a warranty

But anyway, no way I'll buy from somewhere only offering 12 months on a purchase worth over 1k.

You get consumer protections via CRA but those aren't the same as a warranty product - a warranty is optional for a retailer to provide over and above your statutory rights and can have conditions attached (such as depreciated refund vs age, not covering burn in etc.)

Yeah just read about it.
I can see why people choose lg rather than Samsung.

Richer sounds it is. Doesn't really instil faith in a product when warranty is 12 month.

Nope.. Lgs is only 12 months too. Unbelievable!

Na, you can get a 5 year warranty, just have to register it here:

That says it ended in March?

Lol. I thought we were In 2024 while reading that! My bad

Haha I hope we aren't.

The £1,457.19 offer on Samsung ends 9th May.

Can invite you to the program if you do decide to go with them.

Richer sounds deal isn't too bad if you also after a free soundbar. The support with them will be much better but then £350 saving is always nice :p

I'll have a think. I'd sell the sound bar. Looks like can get 300 for that. Get an extra year warranty and a better process like you say.

I'll have a think at weekend. Gf is away from home. If I get it now.. She won't see the box arrive and I can claim it's second hand!

Looks like richer sounds comes in at 1500 (10pc off, , 300 for sound bar) 2000 to 1800 to 1500.

For that difference I may go richer sounds.

Hah, I did the same. Wife is away this weekend. I’m not as posh as you lot though, just bought it from AO.

She's an eco person. So she will think it's wasteful. I'll tell her it's more efficient. (it probably isn't. I expect a 46in plasma isn't much worse than a 65 oled-qd)

By the way, if you're using the TV with an Xbox Series X, there's a long-standing bug which causes Dolby Atmos to be out of sync with the picture on Samsung TVs

It's a known issue which has been around since Xbox supported Dolby Atmos.

I have it with my TV, and didn't with my previous LG.

Just Netflix/f1 tv here. Will have to stump up for premium though

Also an option. Pretty much perfect picture out the box:

I think as I keep tvs years (i think my plasma is 10 years old or more) I want a big upgrade. And I think qd-oled is big enough for me. It's only a little more than that panny you linked.

I'm on my second S95B first one the power supply blew after a couple of months.

Like had been said already for the office you can't beat it.
I'd rather have the Panasonic, but it's not worth the extra over the Samsung.
99% of the performance for 80% of the price.
Dolby vision is a non issue IMO.

I was concerned about DV. But after reading about it I'm not concerned. DV seems to be more of a "how the director intended" thing. Which I'm not bothered about.

From watching reviews I prefer the colours on s95b. I'll check it out in store first obviously. It's not ideal. But maybe richer Sounds will have a proper "at home" type of setup

Um. My parents have a 65 inch TV. It's massive. Might be too big for my living room!

Thought it was the one up from 65! But had a look round back of the TV!

@413x

Bought it yet?

I decided against it.
Was going to get a banger car for MTB and kayak. But thinking about a van (which is much more expensive.) Hard to justify getting the TV when have one that's working when could be 1.5k extra towards the van

If done great deals come up in black Friday I might bite.

It would be the TV I got though.

I waiting for a good deal on the Sony A95, but their prices have remained rock solid, never any cheaper

Its actually the first time I've actually been able to commit to a product in 5 years.

Been waiting for a big shift. And these tvs cut it for me.

And there's nothing near the s95b price.

Unfortunately I'm struggling to justify cost of a holiday on a TV when I have a TV.
