Is the Stalker series worth a buy at £6.24 on steam?

Well from personal experience I can say that games lack a decent narrative and story, but have an amazing atmosphere. So it really depends what you like to look for in your games.

yeah, just a shame clear sky is missing as it;s the best of the lot imo.

Was that ever on Steam? I swear it used to be...

Oh it is... why isn't it in the bundle then

Decent games, better with a mod to make it more realistic and/or immersive, though as Tefal has said countless times... its a shame the end deteriorates into a standard run n gun FPS that the mechanics don't really work for.

im sure its because its from a different publisher or something, differnt from the 2 games that are in this bundle anyways.
im sure it was Tefal that put it up on here before

and also, i would play through the original game with the complete mod installed, even if its your first time through.

Aye, complete mod really does overhaul the game.

Had some pretty hairy times (with complete mod, they might have fixed this, it used to be VERY dark at nights) in the abandoned city sections at night, hiding on the tops of buildings, with zombies, snorks and other nasties crawling the area and attacking any living thing going, npc or you they could get to. I remember spending one ingame night cowering on a rooftop, bodies littering the floor around the building, all ammo expended, before running along the tops of some walls and to freedom at dawn.

Very atmospheric.

I bought this and gave it a go. I think the graphics are not bad for when it was made, although I do have the mod pack on download as we speak. I can see how it would take a while to get into, I am willing to give it a shot though. Although, what is the punishment like in the game? For example, (SPOILER) I just killed everyone on the first mission, one by one so no one else on the misson saw and was still able to hand the misson in fine...

Just installed the complete mod and started my first experience of stalker, not to sure what the aim is and what i am actually doing at the mo lol but the graphics look good. Got it set to max at 1600x900 with d3doverrider running seems fairly smooth so far with my 5850 :)

is this game aan rpg, im on with fallout nv at the minute and after that i have metro 2033 (which i managed to buy for £6)

i noticed this today but wasn't too sure what it was about

if anyone can be bothered will you give a "brief" explaination into what its about and what your aim is just general stuff like that (im not being lazy lol i just dont trust game reviews)

You can go virtually wherever you want within the levels...just be prepared to die in seconds if you wander too far too early :D

There is a story, but that doesn't prevent you wandering around trying to find artifacts etc, the only thing that WILL hinder you is radiation in some areas you need a lot of anti-rad or anti-radiation artifacts/resistant armour.

STALKER (at least the first one) isn't a very forgiving game sometimes, and starts slowly, but its very atmospheric and still has decent lighting and graphics with the complete mod overhaul.

Tried it when it first came out and couldn't get into it. Installed it a few months ago with the complete mod and the game is great. Very atmospheric.

Sneaking around an enemy base in the dark during a thunderstorm with NV goggles and a silenced pistol taking out random people was fun.

Still haven't managed to get to the city yet! I'll need to start playing it again!
