Is there a mouse better than the Logitech MX518?

MX518 is pretty much my default mouse. Just can't go wrong with it. I've used a couple of Razers and thought they were massively overrated.

The only mouse for less money would be the MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. Love that one. :)
 
i 'upgraded' to a g500 and then a sentinel advance. Back using my 6 year old 518 now xD
Personaly i don't understand why there isn't a mx518 gti or smth. So a 518 with laser and the ability to program macros etc like the more expensive mice.
 
I have a MX518 that I bought new in a sale for £5.99. It's a good mouse, but I normally use a Razer Copperhead - fits my grip better and has a more flexible cable than the MX518.

People's choice of mouse is pretty personal so I'm not sure there is one 'best' mouse for everyone.
 
Had one of the original 1600 dpi 518's, sold it and went to some other mouse (can't remember what now?) and now I'm back with the newer 1800dpi 518. IMO it can't be beaten for it's shape and layout.
 
For the money the 518 is a great mouse. That said I had a G5 and it broke and was sent a G500 as a replacement and I have to say its a great mouse as well. You can find them on sale pretty regularly.

Cant loose with either imo.
 
To OP: It just comes down to personal preference, many people like the MX518, however I prefer the g500 much more to my liking. Both are great mice if you ask me :)
 
I have only used a small range of mice, but I love my MX518. I couldnt crown it top as I havent used the other 95% of mice on the market, but its been fine for me and never let me down. Its been used mainly for 3D work, game engine work and gaming itself.
 
as above its all down to preference, people stick with one mouse because its brilliant. :D i use an mx518 for fps games ; Cs1.6, Source, cod.

and from using a standard microsoft mouse to this, i am now 1337 pro master. least on pub anyway :p
 
Been through the G5, G7, MX518, Revolution and now happily married to my G9. Had a go on a RAT the other day. What a pile of doo doo. Maybe C3PO would like it though
 
G5 / g500 and g9 / 9x are better. "side push scroll" button is probably the best option invented ever. The 518 is a great mice but that one option is a must have for me and npw with the offer for g500 at 30 quid u can't really go wrong. I've paid nearly 70 for the g5 when it got first released years ago.

Yup it always comes down to this, tho must say I'm very happy with the MX518, and even got a spare, (on the special here ta :D) for when the one I have now dies :) ..tho the one I have must be near 5 years old if not more and still going strong :cool:
 
I prefer my G5(revised version) for the grippy kind of surface but the 518 is awesome(510 was sexier). Other than that I found Razor's(diamondback) hard to get used to but a nice change.

Yup, it does, it especially depends on what type of grip the user uses as well e.g. claw, palm etc.

i have a 518 as a spare the one thing that annoys me is the ridge on the right hand side its SO comfy and then this annoys my ring finger i actually use some bluetack to mould it round my figner :P pr0 mouse mod!
 
could just be me but im not a fan of my mx518 it could just be software issues not sure but the side buttons dont work in a few games so i lose them which to me is a big issue and when they do work they swap which function they are going to be 4 or 5 i can never know until its too late.

Apart from that the shape its nice and button placing is great.
Would have stayed Razer if it didnt break on me and the price wasnt so high.
