Is there a "Spider Season" ?

sux when you can hear em running :/ or when they fall off the wall and make a small thud.
one ran under the toilet brush holder and it's legs were sticking out both sides which is 5" wide :( they dont like Cif Actifizz tho :O

think it's mating season, the big ones are the males looking to mate. they wont be around much longer.

Just this minute dispatched the 2nd 8+cm legspan monster - this one decided to visit me at the computer.

Had 5-6 exactly idential medium sized ones come into my room too.

I use a pot and a bit of paper and remove them well out into the garden tho.

If I don't close my windows at night I wake up in the morning and it's like an insect house or something. I don't particularly like spiders but I try not to kill them, usually a coaster and a pint glass is good enough and I chuck them outside, moths are the worst. I get really huge moths and ever since closing the windows at night I can often see the stupid bugger flying into the glass trying to get inside. -_-

wow, thought i was the only one noticing this, the large spiders running across my living room carpet have multiplied ten fold. The carpet cant take many more orbital nukes .

Greeted tonight by frantic screams as the missus was greeted by a rather large spider sitting next to her on the sofa.... Am i wrong to have snigerd a little inside when i found her white as a sheet having a mental :D

...and now I got 4 tiny spiders bunched up in the corner, again.

I'm curious as to where they come from and they seem to always move around at night too.

There's been one in our house that seems to have taken up residence in our living room. It's was there every night for the past few nights just sitting there in the middle of the floor, until i...removed it via the old glass and paper trick. I bet it come back for round two though... big as well :(

I don't find the spiders disgusting themselves, it's just the way they scurry everywhere... not a pleasant thought when yer asleep :p.

Any come near me get this.

and you can see them whizz round.

Got a rather large one on my wall at the moment, but it's too high to splat. Keeping my eye on this one as last week I let one remain as it was nice and still for 2 days then all of a sudden it's crawling up my leg and liquidated excrement is crawling down my leg.

I thought they just started coming in because it's getting cold out, and you have a nice warm house with lots of dark spaces and yummy things to eat.. like your eyes. :p

I'm terrible with spider and most critters, my idea of hell are places like sheds, lofts and gardening. My wife has to deal with anything that comes into our house, usually with the Dyson!

I hate this time of year as I have to play the hero and catch all of the moths and spiders that come in to the house because I'm not a big pansy, maybe I should act scared as well.

I've been having spidery issues too, it's a nuisance when they barely fit under a pint glass!

yeah, whilst on my pc yesterday i had one this big climbing up the wall 3 foot infront of me. I did a little eek of excitement then proceeded to scoop it up.

I dont remember a year previous with so many moths and spiders.. especially the species you have pictured there.

^^ That is Blackwall spider i think that is aka common house spider ive got a monster picture of one on my phone but i cant get it on the puter at work :( usb thingys have been disabled! nergh!
