Is there an easy way to check who a piece of land belongs to?

My neighbour is claiming I can't park in "their" space in the alleyway behind their flat. I've been told that the spaces are for the all the residents on that terrace, even though there is one directly behind each property. Is there any way I can find out if it actually belongs to them? They are annoying little *#%$s so I want to tell them to go #&^% themselves if they are in the wrong.

If the land is owned by the council then the land registry is unlikely to help, unless the properties actually have easements over the land. You'll need to ask the council what kind of licence you have to use the land.

Thanks guys, land registry should be fine. If it says it's part of that property then I won't park there, otherwise there's not a lot they can do about it!

yeah :D one of my fave games ever! just wish they would do a remake or sequel (didn't really like Syndiacte Wars). I did a bunch of sigs from retro games, but haven't got round to doing a php rotater thing yet.

Is this a privately rented flat? If so, check with the landlord as they will have the deeds that say what land he (you) own. It may be common land to all tennants, and thus you have as much right as your neighbour.

If it is council, check with the council.

If it is a public road, then you have as much right as your neighbour.

Or you could just ask your neighbour to show proof that it is theirs (i.e. the house/flat deeds).

The Queen owns all the land.

The Land Registry will be able to help you find out who the freeholder is though.

Not too sure on that actually! our one is privately rented through the company who own the shop, although i think they themselves rent the whole propety! I think the neighbour may well own their property though. I might just ask them to show proof!
