I have one of these for the gamecube, basically just a disc that you put into the console to allow you to play import games, (must fool the console into thinking its american or something). Ive quite a few american gc games but none work on the wii, i never thought they would have stuck to region encoding for older cube games but the did, the wii also refuses to recognise the freeloader disc :(

Dont feel like re-buying all my american cube games in uk format =/

They're working on a Wii freeloader disc but then again, being able to update the Wii's firmware, how do the developers of the freeloader disc tackle that ?

Patch it each time ? Don't think that'll make Nintendo very pleased..

From what I've read GC Freeloader won't work at all with PAL Wii machines.

A reply from the another forum offered two suggestions:

1. Sell the PAL Wii and get a US Wii (you'll benefit from better Virtual Console support if you do this; 480p on all VC titles, not just PCE ones, and faster releases).

or 2. Buy a US GC. Probably a better suggestion given how cheap they are.

Sorry not what you wanted to read I know.

Datels site says the newer version works for wii, just ordered it tonight. Ive got a cube here i can use but id prefer just to have the wii and 360 setup with my pc and not have to add another plug to the mix. :p

EDit:

After looking around it seems that people have got the version thats wii compatible and it still wont work, datels response was it only works for the american console...but oddly enough dont state that on the site. Another persons saying it takes you to have their new action replay as well, wtf

We knew that it works fine with NTSC Wii's but not PAL ones. According to the thread on the other forum I referred to, the new PAL version was due any day.

EDIT just read above.

Why would you need to buy all the games again? Surely they still work with the Gamecube you have?
