Last week I had finished off BTEC National Diploma in ICT with 86 points which is a DDM.

Now I mailed my IT teacher regarding a few things and I asked him to confirm my points and he said I have 82 points which is a DMM.

He had marked my work and had me under the assumption that I had fulfilled the criteria for DDM.

I feel so miffed . . Is there anything I can do about it?

Probably not.
I had a similar thing when I finished the AVCE and afaik its all down to moderation by other people. I was given an original mark of 90's in one unit which went down to 60s after moderation, which meant I lost out on the grade I wanted.

Examiners can choose to downgrade everyones work by so many marks if they see from their sample that tutors are very generous in their marking etc.

Yep, they have to go to external moderators for them to check. They can increase or decrease by marks. Sorry to hear you lost out! :(

Is there a huge difference between DDM and DMM?
40 UCAS points and lots of my after college time, so practically I could have left college 2 weeks prior a few weeks back as 74 points would have been the same as 82 :\

Wow so thats like a whole grade drop at A level, shocking i suppose, but the moderation is performed to keep everything at a level playing field. Your teacher was marking liberally by the sounds of things, or exams (if you do them?) were set too easily.

Happened to me, nearly everyone in my class was a complete and utter retard with their courseworks, mine was beautifully crafted and I spent a lot more time over it then I should have. My teacher tried to give them generously marked but in the end my 90 mark got turned into 60 which made me loose out on my grade. You can appeal the mark but it probably wont get you anywhere and will probably leave you out of pocket.

I messed about too much in the first year and by the time i realised how badly I was doing it was too late to really do much about it so ended up getting just PPP. However thats still enough to go to Uni so that will do me :)
