Is this a bad way to choose music?

I just wandered into HMV and bought an album becuase the cover was kinda cute and appealed to me. Is there a better way to discover new artists in this day and age?

you can get lucky doing that. as i'm sure Penski will be quick to tell you...but it's not always the best way. i've done it a few times and been lucky. if a band puts lots of effort into packaging their product well, they've obviously got something to show off, right?

No it was on display in HMV so I don't think its very old but it was £6.99 so probably not a new release.

Ive done it a few times, sometimes ive just looked at the song titles and bought it because i liked them.
Dont do it very often, but the ones I have done have been alright.

It would seem they are critically aclaimed and being bandied about as being in the same genre as Franz Ferdinand and Block Party

I think they have been around for a while, almost picked up their album too, as there are a lot of cheap deals in HMV at the moment

No, however I might have a look at those, I quite like some of their stuff, these guys I haven't heard anything of theirs (to my knowledge).

If you think of things which are 'cute' not as in a good design or a woman you'll probably get it.
