I'm going to look at some cars tomorrow and this one caught my eye:

http://www.perrys.co.uk/usedchoice/11774014/20005//0/9999999

My budget is £13k (would prefer less). Although it's a 210 opposed to a 225 i'll probably get it remapped in a few months and both the 210 and 225 can be increaced to about the same level. However most 225's don't have a cd changer which all 210's have which is something I missed since selling my mondeo a year ago. What do you guys think about the price?

Another one i'm going to look at is here is a 225, a year newer but doesn't have a cd changer but is still under manufacturers warranty.

I'm also going to look at a civic type-r to compare it with but I think i'm swayed towards the leon bucause most of my miles are on the motorway so will be more comfortable than the civic.

Every 225 I sat in had an AURA tapedeck HU and a CD-Changer in the glovebox, so not sure why you'd think 225's didn't have changers, the later run-out LCR's didn't have a changer, but that is by no means the majority of 225's.

EDIT: Have you checked that the 03 plate isn't a 225? They changed from 210 to 225 in 2003, and the only real way of knowing is by the engine code.

Thanks for the reply. I thought all 225's had the newer steering wheel with the red stripe on the top so thought the first one was the 210. Do you know if the older steering wheel was fitted on early 225's as this one also has the newer shape mirrors?

The 225 also has a red R badge on the back but cant tell from the pictures. A lot of the pictures i've seen of 225's had a cd slot in the headunit and didn't mention a cd changer. All 210's i've seen just have a tape player in the headunit. Parkers say the cd changer was a £225 option on the 225.

Try and get hold of them engine code for the red one, if it starts Axx then its a 210 if it starts BAM then its a 225. The red badges are only £5~ from a dealer so they aren't really a good way of telling. Not sure if the wheel was used on early 225's or not though.

Invoice for my car (from first owner, I didn't buy it new) doesn't show any extras and mine has the folding heated mirrors and the changer, which I have noticed not all do, but its certainly not a rare combination.

I know of a rather nice CTR for sale, its a pearler.

TBH i've never been out on a LCR, so wouldnt be able to compare!

I just paid £12,250 for an 04 plate LCR with 22,700 on the clock from a SEAT dealer. They did a service and changed a tyre for me too in that price.

Picked it up today and I love it. Brill car. Once I get used to it I'm gonna have some fun on the twisties very early in the mornings!

Careful of the back end, and don't rely on the the TCS otherwise your in for a rough ride ;)

Took a test drive in the yellow one today. And yes paradigm it did have a cd changer :). Compared with my celica it was completely effortless to go quickly. Seating position was more conventional which i'd have to get used to again. In the celica you sit pretty much on the floor. The best bit though was the brakes. The disks on the back look bigger than the ones on the front of my car.

However the dealer wouldn't offer as much as I wanted for the celica. He already had 2 up for sale around the same age and would have had difficulty selling a third. Then I went to look at the red one I linked above but that was sold this morning.

Tomorrow I'm going to Cheshunt to look at 2 here. The milage is very low on the black one so will check out wheter it's been standing for a long time but think i'd go for the silver one out of the 2.

Part of me keeps thinking about moving to an R, but I've spent a fortune on the last service on my cupra. So it's had Koni FSDs and short shifter add. Wish I'd gone for the Eibach springs too.

Add to all that the car I really want is a VW R32 04 plate with full leather and sat nav etc. ££££ though :( and heading into decent car money there

Woo, I've gone and bought one :)

It's a 53 Cupra R 210 in black which I got for £11k with 12 months tax. It has the optional Recaro seats in the front and back which was a £1,200 option when new, also has a full service history carried out the SEAT dealer I got it from and it was also bought there originally. I'm going to pick it up next weekend :D

Insurance isn't too bad although it's got an extra 70BHP over my celica, at only £18 extra until the end of my policy in 2 months time.

I'm currently looking at track days at either Snetterton or Brands Hatch. Last time I went to Snetterton in the celica i kept getting stuck behind a n00b in a 2006 golf gti, he kept leaving me for dead on the straights and then went really slow around the corners.

Here's a piccy

Very nice and even better that it's got the recaros as they're rare. I'd been tempted with that myself..

How many miles and has it got tracker etc.

Get over to seatcupra.net ;)

Revo remap
Koni FSDs with Eibach springs
Forge DV
Upper S3 strut brace ;)

Hi,
It's only done 15,000 miles. All by 1 owner. It's had 3 main dealer services though one every year. No it doesn't have a tracker. I'm not that bothered about that as if it was stolen I'd perfer to get the money back from insurance rather than getting it repaired. But I don't like in the ghetto and it'll be parked within an 8ft fence in my back garden.

A remap and recirculation valve is on the cards and will look at other mods when I've got the money. I'll probably get it done after I renew my insurance so then i'll be 25 and have 3 years no claims.
