Is this a reason to RMA?

Welcome to OCuk forums .... you have now entered the twilight zone....

Cleeecooo do you have house insurance, content insurance and life insurance ? If you do go for it... try the egg thing..... Can your PSU be more damaged then it probably is now... ofcourse it can just when it goes BANG make sure to take cover...

Cleeecooo seriously mate don't play with that system anymore get that card out of that system and send it back.. Don't try anything else, you have tried everything now and it proves the card is not working right. Go get some sleep and don't worry about it till tomorrow and then get it boxed up and sent back.

:) wait and see what His have to say.. I'm sure they are going to tell you to RMA it.. Just state to them the card is idling on the desktop at over 80c+ and any time you stress the card with a game or benchmark it hits 100c+ and fails.. Also let them know you have tried every version of the drivers the one on the cd and the latest on AMDs web site .. and tell them the cpu clock and memory clock on idle when it is hitting 80c+. This will prove it's a faulty card.

His said to stop ising the card and rma immediately. They said the cooler mau not be on properly and the eraticness my have been by me reseating the card and pushing the cooler back into place. Sound about right? Purgatory, i should have listened to you in the first place

Sounds about right :) Either the cooler is not on right or there is some power problem on the card ..

Lol this guy is an idiot. Return the card, and in future just buy a pre-built system and don't bother messing around with building one yourself.

Obviously a broken card is going to be a disappointment. Don't tar them all with the same brush as you've clearly not had the chance to experience what it can actually do.
