I have a gigabyte mobo with two burned out mosfets, they just starting smoking and melting one day, just basically broke, is it possible to buy 2 new mosfets and solder them on or would have it caused other damge to motherboard?

Mosfets are pretty cheap so you might as well try. Got the specs of the mosfets? RS should stock suitable parts. Anything else that looks blown?

It's possible the PSU has gone wonky on you and the reason of the fried mosfets. So get the PSU checked out. Sometimes mosfets can blow and the board is ok. Repair it, take out all components (don't want to risk damaging anything else) and see if it powers up and beeps. If the mosfets burn up again then something else is wrong with the board and not worth it.

Our business can do this sort of thing, but really not worth it considering cost to the customer..slightly different if it's a piece of hospital equipment not a £80 PC motherboard.

Ok thanks dude, i might give that a go or just flog it to somebody who fancys a little project.
